I've recorded things on HD channels, and have never seen this problem in
anything else. No problem in the HD broadcasts of Nova, or of Sondheim's
"Company," which was "Great Performances" but obviously not the Met.
Also no problems with the Los Angeles Opera "Mahagonny", also Great
Performances. So unless it says "Metropolitan Opera" on it, I have no
problems.
I'm using digital cable for the HDTV, I don't have a TV with a digital
tuner (1080i but only VHF/UHF tuner). Digital HD cable looks really
good. I suppose I can try your approach, although where I live there are
some hills between me and the transmitter, so all I can get is multipath
reception. Cable or satellite is probably a must for me.
