Excellent reply, EVG! That is exactly the point - we are quite fortunate in
having so many performances with great stars of rarely (as well as
frequently) performed operas that simply do not appear in the commercial
catalogues.
None of Mr. Rosen's offerings are "unlistenable", and a true opera lover
somehow learns/trains his ears to "listen through" the hiss & static of
early performances. Still, they are worth their weights in gold.
I praise & thank Ed Rosen & the rest of the "pirates" for providing us with
these true treasures.
Further, I have been dealing with Ed for decades & have never, ever, been
"stiffed". The most I have ever had to wait (and, this was extremely rare &
not the rule) was 3-4 weeks.
